A bit of a mixed bag weather wise this week with rain and wind resulting in a low Tuesday turnout. The Tuesday open was cancelled as a result. Any participants who paid in on the day should contact the shop for details on 00353749361715.
This meant that it was the ladies who kicked off the week at North West. Roslyn McLaren who only started golf last year won her first competitive competition on Wednesday winning the Stewart Cup with a fantastic score of 41 points.
Second was Marie McLaughlin with 37 points on a break of tie from Deirdre Britton who also scored 37 points. Congratulations to the winners.
Next week Wednesday 24th the Mens Cup Is being played for.
Date for your Diary: Friday 31st July there is an open Mixed greensomes competition and Monday 2nd August Open Stableford competition for ladies and gents. Booking is through the BRS system.
On Thursday we had the last Thursday Society outing until later in the year with the Links open starting next Thursday. Colm McCarroll rolled back the years putting in a solid 36points to win but 1 clear point. Runner up was club Treasurer Eugene Hillick with Willie Meehan taking 3rd on 34 points. Great scoring on what was a tough windy day on the links.

On Saturday we had a fantastic showing from our members with 103 members taking part in the Donnel Cup. Windy conditions were no match for popular member Kevin Cooley who had an incredible day on the links scoring a mighty 46 points. Great shooting Kevin. Killian O’Rourke, pushed Kevin all the way with 45 points, a score that would win on any other day.
Kyle McCarron, went low with 72 strokes to take home the gross prize and in the battle of the K’s it was Karol Friel who rounded out the top prizes with 39 points. Raymond Galagher rallied well to take the back 9 prize with 21 points.

Last but not least Sunday saw 70 competitors take to the field for this month’s monthly medal. Martin McGrath put on a fantastic display shooting a 7 under 63 nett to win by two shots from Karol Friel who put in another fantastic display with a nett score of 65.
The gross prize went to the ever youthful Colm McCarrol with a gross score of 78. Edward John Grant took home 3rd spot only losing out on 2nd place on a break of tie. The back nine was won by Eamon McGrellis with a strong close and a 4 under par net 31.
