Results Week Ending 27/09/2020

Strange times as we entered more restrictions in Donegal this week with an immediate impact at the club. After only reopening the bar area on Wednesday this was promptly closed again due to the restrictions, but we will be back stronger than ever when this is all over. Before we get into this weeks results we would like to thank our members and guests who have supported us in the recent months. Without you we would not have a club to come to.

Kicking off the wee was the Tuesday Open.

Tricky conditions and a slightly reduced field with scoring lower than we have been used to in recent months.

That didn't stop the in form John O'Brien winning his second competition in a week with a score of 36 points.

Jimmy McGee came close beating another in form player Paul Sarrett by one point to take second place on 35 points. And winning the visitors prize on a break of tie was city of Derry's Alastair Duncan on 33 points.

No links open this Thursday with the return of the Thursday Society. New members are more than welcome to join.

Lady Captain Ann & Geraldine Hillick wins Greensomes competition!

On Wednesday 23rd September the North West Ladies played a Club Greensomes competition.

Lady Captain Ann & Geraldine Hillick were the winners with a score of 36 points. In second place with a score of 34 points was Deirdre Britton & Rita Harvey. Third place went to Helen Quigley & Bernie Barr with 33 points. Congratulations to all the winners!

Due to the change in Covid restrictions in Donegal next weeks competition has been changed to a club Stableford. Please check draw details for changes!

First week back for the Thursday and some great scoring to boot. Sean McGrellis won by a margin of 5 points to win the maiden outing of the 2020 Thursday Society season.

Back in 2nd was Eugene Dunbar with a score that would win most on 40 points, while Thursday Society Captain Mickey Bradley put in a great display with 39 points for third.

Fantastic standard set for the season ahead.

1st Sean McGrellis 45 pts 2nd Eugene Dunbar 40 pts 3rd Michael (TS) Bradley 39 pts

Off the whites for the Monthly Medal in breezy conditions, but green tees or white tees, it doesn't seem to matter for Mickey "Thursday Society" Bradley, taking the win with a 67 nett score, matching his score off the green tees on Thursday of 39 points. Looks like old lefty was hitting some bombs out there today.

In second place with a nett score of 68 we have John O'Hagan beating Stewart McGinley on a break of tie, with Stewart taking the gross prize as a result.

Justin MacLochliann continues his great form taking third on 69 nett while Neil Harkin had a fantastic close to his round with a nett score of 33 for the back nine prize.

Lovely conditions for the confined comp on Sunday after a scheduling change, but none the less it was a bit of a roller coaster ride for Gerard Conaty finishing in first place with 43 points. Gerard had 17 points on the front with three blanks on the card but rallied on the back going 1 under par adding 26 points to his front nine total.

Finding form in second place was Matthew Stainsby on 41 points helped with a birdie at 9 and a remarkable eagle on the 18th. Following Matthew into the winners circle was Pat McMyler recording 39 points steadying after a bogey start to then go on and put 6 pars on the card.

We also had our Ladies and Gents Captain's prize giving this week while the bar was briefly open. Well done to all who were involved. You all look great in the photos.
