Open weekend, final day report.

354 competitors descended on NWGC this weekend with 106 taking up the challenge for the final day prize bonanza kindly sponsored by Bradley's Filling Station, Fahan. With the weather holding and the course in great condition both the gents and ladies produced some great golf to match.

In the ladies comp it was Lady Captain Anne Coyle who came out victorious with a one point win and a score of 34 points. In second place, getting her name in the prizes again was the in from Vice Captain Noreen Allen-Moore with 33 points. Roisin Timoney rounded out the main prizes with a steady round of 32 points while, Margaret McColgan from our nearest neighbour club, Buncrana Golf Club, took home the visitors prize with 31 points. A fantastic showing from all the ladies involved in the ladies competition.

Special mention to Trustee Augusta Neff who had a Hole in one at the 16th. What a fantastic achievement Augusta.

It was tight at the top in the gents competition with Stewart McGinlay, a man never too far from the winners enclosure producing the round of the day to win by a point on a score of 42 points. Pipped at the post we had Kevin Hegarty recording 9 pars on the way to a score of 41 points. Ryan Doherty took the gross with a two over round of 72, great shooting, while Michael Kearney rounded out the main prizes with 39 points for third place.
