NWGC Results week ending 23/08/2020
Conditions for scoring were good on Tuesday and that was reflected in the scores returned by our visiting players taking all the prizes bar the gross in the Tuesday open.
Leading the invasion was Paul Henry of Buncrana, coming in with 42 points to win by one over Dermot Hegarty from City of Derry.
The only North West man to make an impact on the day was the very steady Mickey Bradley winning the gross prize with 75 strokes.

The Granard Greensomes competition was played on Wednesday 19th.
The winners on the day were Sheila Reid and Lorraine McGettigan with a fantastic score of 42 points.
Second place was Margaret O’Hea and Mary McGeough with 38 points.
Third place Joanne Harkin and Noreen Allen-Moore 37 points.
Front nine Roisin Williamson & Kathleen Griffen 20 points.
Back nine Margaret & Rosalyn McLaren 20 points.
The winners Sheila & Lorraine will represent the club at the regional finals in Athlone on Sept 3rd.
Next Wednesday we have the “Major” of the year for the Ladies- Ann Coyle’s Lady Captains Prize.
The Lady Captains prize to the men will be played on Wednesday as well. Juvenile prize and beginners prize will be played on Monday & Tuesday evenings.
Another great turn out here at North West Golf Club for an open event kindly sponsored by club Pro Brian McElhinney on Saturday. With some great prizes on offer the stakes were high in changeable weather.
It took a break of tie to separate the top two and it was Karol Friel who edged out past President Frank McHale, both me showing great form ahead of the captains prize next with 40 points scored each.
The gross prize was taken with an incredible two under round of 69 by Ballyliffin's Gareth Mallon, while in third place getting among the prizes was Donal Begley with 39 points.
Visitors prize goes to Paul Lafferty while the back 9 prize goes to Sean Meenan.

To round out an already busy day our Junior Cup team won a fantastic match against Omagh GC 4-1 winning all 3 matches at home and 1 away. Well done to the boys. Best of luck in the next round.
Tough conditions on Sundays confined competition with qualifying for the 2020 Debonairs Singles sponsored by SuperValu Buncrana also taking place.
A break of tie separated the top two with the very popular Competition Secretary Damien Griffin taking the win with 39 points from Aedan McGrellis. The gross goes to Mathew Stainsby just back from injury and showing great signs of recovery. Back in third on a very steady score of 39 we had Dermot McGlynn while Liam Doherty claimed the back nine prize with 19 points.
Well done to all who took part on the day and good luck to those who have progressed to the Debonair match play knockout stages.

They have been doing a fantastic job behind the scenes to hold the club together and get us all back to playing golf.
