Not to be Sneezed at!

Updated: Mar 18, 2020

Greetings Golfers,

If it hasn’t already happened, we are now beginning to realise that we are in the midst of a catastrophic period in our history with the onslaught of the Corona Virus. We’ve all heard and seen the numerous jokes that have been doing the rounds since news of Covid19 first emerged. The serious nature of what is now a pandemic is beginning to hit home. Following advice from GUI/ILGU and Health agencies we, at North West, have taken steps to try to limit the spread of the virus. Good hygiene is paramount and hand sanitisers are in place in the most sensitive areas around the clubhouse. I encourage all members to follow the advice available so that we can limit the effects of the virus and, hopefully, get golf back on the agenda. Our thoughts go to anyone affected, especially those at most risk.

First Silverware

Congratulations to our Ladies who were victorious in the Inishowen Winter League defeating Buncrana in the final.Hopefully this will be the first of many successes in the coming year.

Sponsors

Our Sponsorship/Marketing team has been working tirelessly gathering much needed sponsorship for the year ahead. We are eternally grateful for our sponsors who provide revenue for the club. Our team has prepared sponsorship packages that, hopefully, meet the needs of our sponsors and go some way to acknowledge their generosity. There may be others out there who would be in a position to help out through sponsorship. If that is the case please contact Noreen Allen, Brian Grant, Stiofán Stewart, or indeed any member of Council. Don't be shy. Your help will be greatly appreciated. Moreover, I encourage members to support our sponsors through their patronage. For this to be effective it must be a two-way process.

FEES

Not to harp on about money but we really do need to get our fees into the bank. With February being such a write-off because of the poor weather our revenue streams have been severely tested. Club rules declare that only fully paid-up members or those with agreed standing orders may play in competitions. This comes into effect from 17th March at the Shamrock Open so pleeeease get those fees in and kick-off the season on the right note.

There are several fundraising activities planned over the next few months beginning with a sweepstake for the Masters. Hopefully members will enjoy participating in these events and we can get a good dividend from them. In response to members' suggestions we have several initiatives planned which will require funding in the next few months. It would be great to feel that everyone can see what we are attempting to do and to support the club through getting involved. You never know .... it could be FUN!!!

In summary...blow your nose, wash your hands, pay your dues and keep your putts low!
