Wind and rain dictated the scoring this week seeing shortened fields and cancelled competitions but this did not deter some golfers from posting some fine scores.
Tuesday open 04/02/2020
Breezy conditions made for tough scoring and it was club member Eugene Ferry who lead the way in this weeks Tuesday open, winning with a fine score of 36 points with 5 pars registered. This was just enough to see off the challenge of visitors Denis Cox and Sean McCaul who finished 2nd and 3rd respectively. Well done to the visitors playing well in tough conditions.
Thursday Society 06/02/2020
Played over 14 holes in blowy weather this weeks Thursday Society comp saw Jimmy McGee win by two clear points on a day where it was tough to find fairways and greens. Jimmy Had 8 pars on the day beating Sean Watson into 2nd place who in turn won out over veteran Dudley Coyle on a break of tie.
Saturday confined stableford 08/02/2020
Storm Ciara was no match for Sean Mooney in this weeks Saturday comp scoring a fine 38 points blowing both Ciara and the field apart, winning by 3 clear points. 1 birdie and six pars was enough to breeze home in this one, but takes nothing away from the fine score of 35 posted by club stalwart Cathal Mullan. The ever steady Emmett Mapp finished his round on 34 points to take 3rd place on a day where most would have had their feet up watching the golf on TV. Well done to all who braved the conditions.
There was no Sunday comp this week due to poor conditions. Here's hoping for better weather in the near future so we can all get back to it.
