Compulsory use of winter mats on fairways

As of Saturday 6th January 2018, all play at NWGC from the fairways will be from winter mats in order to preserve the course.  Use of winter mats provides players with the added benefit of playing from a fairway location after hitting a great drive rather than placing in the rough. Mats are compulsory for all play on the course including Winter Competitions as well as general winter play.  Winter rules are in place to help preventing divots & scarring on fairways until environmental conditions are favourable for growth. You must place the mat within 6″ of your ball that has come to rest on the fairway and then play your shot from this location.  The mats are only to be used when your ball comes to rest on a fairway. Ladies News – Wednesday 20 December 2017

Christmas Dinner We had a lovely Christmas Dinner in the club house last week. It was great to see everyone dressed up and in the mood for a fun evening. Thanks go to Stewart for the meal. Thanks also to Lady Captain Eileen and Lady President Eileen for providing the wine.     The Ladies Committee also enjoyed a brilliant evening in Lady Captain’s house at the weekend – thank you Eileen for your hospitality. Bingo! The family bingo ended on Sunday and it proved to be a great success over the past 3 weeks. Christmas Hamper – 6 December 2017

Christmas Hamper The Christmas Hamper competition was played on Wednesday 6th December in gusty conditions. Thanks go to Maureen Cassidy and Roisín Timoney for preparing the beautiful hampers. Ryder Cup After the second week of match play Lady President Eileen’s team leads by half a point, with 26 1/2 points. There’s a few minor changes to the teams so check the list in the locker room for your name. Next week is singles match play again – if we get even teams of four the following week we hope to have a better ball competition.  Sunday 9 Hole Sunday 9 hole winner was Lady Captain Eileen and runner up was Vice Captain Anne.
